Special Feature: Microsoft Word - Print Text Larger
Question: I would like to make the text print larger in Microsoft Word. I know this can be done. Could you tell me how?
Answer: Open the word document and select all the text. The quickest way to do this is to click Edit on the menu bar and then click Select All. All the text in the document will be highlighted.
Click Format in the menu bar and then Font. The Font window will open with options for making formatting changes to your fonts. In the Size area, the number on top is the current font size. Click on a larger number in the list directly below that. Look further down in the Preview area. You’ll see a small example of how the text will look.
When you have made all the changes you want, click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
Now your document will print with the larger font size.
Note: This tip will work in Microsoft Works Word Processor and WordPad. In an Outlook Express email, click Format on the menu and then Rich Text (HTML). Then the Format/Font command will be available.

Today's Topic: CD Burning Basics
This tip is for computers not using Windows XP. For Windows XP CD burning basics, please visit our newsletter archives: http://computerkindergarten.com/html/032104.html
Computers with a CD writer will usually have a CD burning program. Since the steps for using a CD burning program will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, this will be very general instructions.
Your CD burning program should be in the Start button menu Programs folder. Click the Start button and point to Programs. Look for the program in there. Open the program.
Here is how CD burning programs typically work:
Some CD burning programs will have an option for either writing manually or with a wizard. If your program has a wizard, choose that; it will guide you through the CD writing process.
You will probably be prompted to choose the kind of CD you want to create: audio or data. If you are saving files, choose data. If you are making a music CD, choose music.
You will probably be prompted to choose the files you want to put on the CD. You will see a window where you will maneuver to the folder where your files are and either click to choose them or drag and drop them.
Once you have chosen all of the files and closed that window, you should see an option for writing the files to the CD. Most programs will allow you to test the CD before you write to it. You may want to do this the first time you use the drive. If you have no problems, you can skip this step in the future.
Click the button to begin writing the files to the CD. During the actual CD writing process, do not use the computer. Opening and closing programs can interfere with the writing process and cause a loss of data on the CD.
Note: For music CDs and archived files, use a CD-R disk, which can be used only once. For files stored temporarily on a CD, use a CD-RW; this disk can be used over and over.

Question: Move a Program to the Start Menu
I was opening a program from the Start menu and now the program is on the desktop. It is no longer in the start menu. How can I get it back into the Start menu?
Answer: It is pretty easy to move a program from the start menu to the desktop, but a little tricky to get it back where it belongs.
Follow the directions below, but if it doesn't work the first time, try again. It is important to hold down the mouse button until the very end; if you release it too soon, the process will not work.
Point to the icon on the desktop, hold down the left mouse button and drag the icon to the Start button. Hold the icon right on the start button until the Start menu opens.
Still holding down the left mouse button, drag the icon to Programs. Wait for the Programs menu to open.
Still holding down the left mouse button, drag the icon where it belongs in the menus and then release the mouse button.
The program will now appear where you placed it.
