Special Feature: Top Five Latest Phishing Scams – Protect Yourself !
As reported by America Online, the following are the most frequently seen scam and hoaxes designed to invade your computer and access your personal information.
Important: these scams are being sent to all Internet and email users, not just AOL members. Remember, no business will ever ask you to give any personal information, sign on codes or passwords in an email.
1. AOL You’ve Got Pictures Scam Legitimate e-mails from AOL’s You’ve Got Pictures service will only come from the screen name of your friend or family member who is sending you the pictures. If you do not recognize the screen name or e-mail address, do not open the e-mail, do not click any links, and do not download any attachment.
2. eBay Scam If you receive an e-mail from eBay, and it asks you to click a link to a Web site that requests a user name or e-mail address and password, it is a scam.
3. AOL 'Update Your Account Billing Information' Scam If your billing method cannot be charged, AOL will send you a message by Official AOL Mail, with a link to AOL Keyword: Billing to allow you to update your billing method. Legitimate AOL mail will show up in your mailbox as Official AOL Mail. Official AOL Mail has a blue envelope next to the date in your AOL mailbox and has a dark blue border around the mail, and the “Official AOL Mail” seal at the top of the message. Official AOL Mail will NEVER have attachments.
4. Phony Hallmark 'Pick Up Your E-Card' Scam A new scam spreading on the Internet is trickier than most phishing scams. The scam starts with a phony e-mail purporting to come from Hallmark (or other e-card services like Blue Mountain) and asking you to download an attachment in order to pick up an e-card. The attachment is not an e-card; it is a virus.
5. SunTrust Bank 'Fraudulent Activity on Your Account' Scam If you receive an e-mail from a bank or other financial institution, and it asks you for a user name or password, it is a scam. Banks and other financial institutions have very strict policies about e-mailing their customers and will not ask for sensitive data by e-mail.

Featured Computer Term: Downloading vs. Uploading
Question: What is the difference between Downloading and Uploading?
Answer: When you download, you are copying a file from a computer somewhere out on the internet and saving it on your computer.
Uploading is the opposite of downloading. When you upload a file, you are copying a file on your computer and sending it to a computer on the internet.
