SPANISH – Computer classes in Spanish

CK Computer Kindergarten for Grownups - This is a slow-paced, user-friendly workshop for first-time computer users. Using Windows computers, this unique class covers the basics in a way that even the most inexperienced user will understand. We will cover turning the computer on, the Windows desktop, using the mouse, opening programs, understanding windows elements, inputting text and saving a file, and turning the computer off. All versions of Windows will be addressed.

1G Computer 1st Grade for Grownups - In this workshop you will learn how to work with text including inputting, inserting, moving, and erasing, learn basic word processing skills, and understand commands and dialog boxes.

2G Computer 2nd Grade for Grownups - In this workshop you will learn how to work with numbers including inputting, inserting, moving, and erasing and get an introduction to spreadsheets including an understanding of basic techniques, creating a workbook, inputting data, editing data, formulas and functions, working with columns and rows, formatting and spreadsheet design.

3G Computer 3rd Grade for Grownups - This hands-on workshop covers multitasking, working with graphics and using Windows drawing and painting tools, and using copy and paste and cut and paste within a document, to another document within the same application, and to another application. Copying both text and graphics will be addressed.

4G Computer 4th Grade for Grownups - Understanding the Windows file management structure using the Windows Explorer program to find and view drives, folders and files, create folders, copy and move files, and delete folders and files.

5G Computer 5th Grade for Grownups - This workshop covers using the Windows Desktop to enhance the user’s work environment. Included are saving files to the desktop, moving to and from My Documents and the Recycle Bin, creating folders on the desktop and display properties.

6G Computer 6th Grade for Grownups - Covered will be setting up and installing new program s, uninstalling existing program s, using Windows Help, Search and Documents, using Control Panel.

ANIMATION Computer Animation - Learn how to use your computer to create web-based computer animation. Create and edit animated GIFs and much more. YA Only.

APPLE Introduction to the Apple: In this lecture and demo class, you will get an introduction to the Apple computer. Learn all about the desktop, the elements of the computer, tools and toolbars, how to get online, and much more.

AUDIOBOOKS Online - Learn how to download audiobooks from the library’s website to your MP3 player. In this class, you will learn how to access the collection of audiobooks, create a username and password, maneuver around the website, download books and more.

BUY How to Buy a Computer and Computer Equipment - In this workshop you’ll learn what to consider before buying a computer, scanner, digital cam era or printer. Included will be an explanation of hardware and software, terminology and the best equipment to meet your needs.

CELL PHONE - Learn all about using your cell phone’s features including making and receiving calls, entering data, using the Address Book, Camera, Text Messaging and much more.

CLEAN Computer Cleanup and Safety - In this lecture and demo class, you will learn how to protect your computer from viruses and spyware, minimize junk email and stop annoying Internet pop up windows. Also covered will be deleting files, emails, cookies, program s and more, and maintaining the general health of your computer. For intermediate and advanced users.

DATING Make Friends, Find a Date Online - learn how to use online dating sites; find and join e-mail support groups, find activity groups, partners, and social meetings in your town, and much more.

DIGITAL CAMERAS How to Use Your Digital Camera - Learn how to use the basic features of a digital camera including flash settings, optical and digital zoom, menu settings, image quality and much more. Bring your digital camera, your manual and your questions.

DIGITAL PHOTOS Working with Your Digital Photos - Hands On! You have a digital camera and know how to take pictures, but how do you move the images from the cam era to the computer? How do you organize your pictures and edit them? In this workshop you will learn the answers to these questions and much more. We will cover using an image editing program that allows you to resize, crop, adjust light levels, and more. Learn how to organize, name and save your pictures.

DTP Desktop Publishing - In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to use your word processing program , Microsoft Word, to create greeting cards, letterhead paper, transfer designs, newsletters, notepaper and much more. Some of the many topics covered are creating, inserting and working with graphics, textboxes and frames, WordArt, auto shapes, margins, alignments, paper size and fonts.

EBAY All About eBay - In this lecture and demonstration workshop, you’ll learn how use eBay, the world’s most popular online auction website, to buy and sell items. Some of the topics covered are creating a username and password, maneuvering through the site, finding what you’re looking for and posting things to sell, checking reliability of sellers and buyers, recourses available to insure transactions, and much more.

EMAIL All About Email - Learn how to create an e-mail using some of the more popular e-mail providers, including several free Internet e-mail applications such as Yahoo, Hotmail, Lycos and more. In this hands-on, lecture and demo class you will learn how to get an email address, send, receive, forward and reply to e-mail. After you have mastered the basics, you will learn how to attach files, photos and images to the e-mail you send and download attachments sent to you. Also addressed will be viruses, hoaxes and ways to minimize junk mail.

GOOGLE APPS Introduction to Google Apps- In this hands-on class, you will learn all about Google Calendar, Gmail, office suite web applications, Docs and much more. We will cover creating an account, calendar functions, applications available and more. Bring your questions.

GREETING CARDS Create Photo Greeting Cards - In this hands-on and demonstration class, learn how to copy a photo from your digital camera to your computer, edit the photo using an image editing program, create a greeting card using your photo, specialty fonts, graphics, word art and more. You will also learn how to create an account with an online card store and order Holiday Cards online.

INTERNET All About the Internet - How to get online, find information, understand the jargon of the Internet, and more.

INTRO1, INTRO2 - Introduction to Computers - For the computer novice, this class will get you started. Learn the basics right from the beginning: turning the computer on, the desktop, using the mouse, opening and closing programs, understanding windows elements, getting out of trouble, and turning the computer off. In the optional second session, learn how to work with text and basic word processing skills.

IPOD All About the iPod - Learn all about Apple’s hottest new electronic gadget – the iPod – the unique and widely popular MP3 player. Listen to music while you walk, run or relax. In this lecture and demo workshop, you will learn how to install the program , synchronize the device, find music and audio books online, organize your files and much more.

ME & MY COMPUTER - In this hands-on computer class for 2½ to 5 year olds and their Moms, Dads, Grandparents, or caregivers, you and your child will learn how to use a computer together. Preschoolers only.

MUSIC VIDEO Making a Music Video - In this hands on class, we will take pictures, graphics and music and create a music video. Timelines, effects, transitions and more will be addressed. Bring a USB drive with your favorite song and pictures. YA Only.

In this hands-on class, learn how to copy a photo from your digital camera to your computer, edit the photo using an image editing program, post it on an online picture site such as Flickr or Shutterfly, and send invitations to view your pictures.
